Erwin Wurm is one of the internationally best known Austrian artists of his generation in Europe and overseas. In Galerie Krinzinger he will show new photos, drawings, videos and objects. At the heart of his work lies a concern with exploring and expanding the concept and principles of sculpture, through the prism of photography and video. Wurm has been invited to important solo and group exhibitions worldwide: In 2000/01 he is shown at Hayward Gallery, London, Centre Nationale de la Photographie, Paris, Musée Picasso, Antibes, Fundacion Joan Miró, Barcelona and Centre pour l’image Contemporaine, Geneva. A big success was Wurm’s solo show at the Photographers’ Gallery in London. His next important show will be in May of this year at the Drawing Center New York.
48 of his „One minute sculptures“ were just purchased for the photo collection of the Centre Pompidou, Paris. Christine Macel, from Centre Pompidou, Paris, will speak to his work at the opening.
