After Parrot can’t talk, 2010 (an exhibition and residency in the Krinzinger projects) and SAME THING EVERYDAY / HER GÜN AYNI SEY, 2013, Still Life is the third solo exhibition by Turkish artist Inci Furni at Galerie Krinzinger.
Since 2014, in her exhibitions called Vol., Inci Furni has been revisiting and interpreting the main themes of painting in her site-specific installations with ephemera, found objects, and performative drawings.
In her exhibition Still Life, Inci Furni creates a still life from performative color gestures based on the video performance I Found This on the Way, which she showed at the 2019 solo exhibition at the Museum Arter in Istanbul.
Furni spatially connects paintings and airbrush works on paper and merges them from the paper into the room and from the room to the painting.
In her conceptual examination of the idea and the act of painting, she transforms the still life into an installation that spreads throughout the room. Such as rolling and scupting paper work.
The discourse on painting and drawing, surface and depth, abstraction versus representation, epic and everyday, such as verticality and horizontality, play a role in her work. Inci Furni depicts all these opposites on one surface, plays with them and deconstructs them
Inci Furni was born in 1976 in Bursa, Turkey. She completed her BA in painting at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul. Parallel to her work as a solo artist, she was part of the Hafriyat group between 2007 and 2010. Inci Furni took part in the following artist in residence programs: ISCP in New York, Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris, lAAB in Basel and Krinzinger Projects, Vienna.

Still Life ist nach Parrot can’t talk, 2010 (Ausstellung und Residency in den Krinzinger Projekten) und SAME THING EVERYDAY / HER GÜN AYNI SEY, 2013 die dritte Einzelausstellung der türkischen Künstlerin Inci Furni in der Galerie Krinzinger.
Seit 2014 greift Inci Furni in ihrer Ausstellungsserie Vol. Hauptthemen der Malerei auf und interpretiert sie in ihren ortsspezifischen Installationen mittels Ephemera, gefundenen Objekten und performativen Zeichnungen neu.
Inci Furni erschafft in ihrer Ausstellung Still Life, basierend auf der Videoperformance I Found This on the Way, die sie 2019 bei der Einzelausstellung im Museum Arter in Istanbul zeigte, ein Stillleben aus performativen Farbgesten.
Malereien und Airbrush-Arbeiten auf Papier setzt Furni räumlich zueinander in Verbindung und fügt diese vom Papier in den Raum und wiederum vom Raum zum Bild zusammen.
In ihrer konzeptionellen Auseinandersetzung mit der Idee und dem Akt des Malens verwandelt sie die Stillleben in eine Installation, die sich im ganzen Raum ausbreitet.
Der Diskurs um Malerei und Zeichnung, Fläche und Tiefe, Abstraktion versus Repräsentation, Epischem und Alltäglichem, wie Vertikalität und Horizontalität, spielen eine Rolle in ihren Arbeiten. Inci Furni stellt all diese Gegensätze auf einer Fläche dar, spielt mit ihnen und dekonstruiert sie.
